Governance & Structure
Ravens Crossing Cohousing is governed by the BC Strata Property Act, but it is a strata with a difference. Like all strata, there is a strata council as required, but with a key difference - all owners are council members sharing the responsibilities of managing the community's interests and effective operation. The community agreed to make decisions together by consensus, not necessarily unanimity. We believe that consensus-making builds community, connections, and promotes shared understanding and perspectives even if we have different opinions and desires.
How Ravens Crossing Cohousing is organized and operates
The primary decision-making body in RCC is the community as a whole that meets monthly in its strata/community meetings. All owners are members of the Strata Council and are responsible for managing the interests and operation of the community. Some decisions are delegated to 6 committees, whose mandates were established by the whole group.

Community members are encouraged to attend committee meetings, except for Plenary Focus, whose members are elected by the community.
